One of the prime producers of soulful house music with an edge
(granted he's from Detroit), Terrence Parker started out a hip-hop
DJ but later blended a wealth of influences (from techno, soul,
disco, jazz and even downtempo) to give his recordings a unique
flavor midway between hands-in-the-air house and the more sublime
sound of Detroit techno.
Since 1988, Terrence Parker has released more than 100 recordings,
and had top 20 hits with his songs "Love's Got Me High", "The
Question" and albums like "Detroit After Dark" in the U.K., The
Netherlands, Germany, and France. As part of the Detroit Historical
Museum's History of Techno International Exhibit, TP's collective
musical works and pioneering efforts have been recognized as a
valuable contribution to Detroit's music history, as well as the
International History Dance Music.
Terrence's third full length release entitled "My Studio Sessions
Vol. #1" was an exclusive limited edition CD on Intangible Records
(released Nov. 1998) featuring 14 brand new songs. Four of those
songs are featured on this 6 track mini LP entitled "Strong Songs"
released on Chisel Records (label home of Chicago legend L.A.
Williams), with a1 (one of dem funky train tracks) and b1 (soulful
house with a latin vocal hook) unique to this Chisel as far as we
can tell.
