Voices always works a treat on the dancefloor. Of course KC
Flightt got there first but on this AM:PM 2x12 limited edition Ashley
Beedle, Roger S and DJ Harvey are up to the task and, judging by
the A&M stamp of approval, may have been given free reign with the
master tapes.
The results: On Side A, Beedle brings the full prog treatment but
then segues direct into a rather moody dub at the halfway mark
which is quite nice (these are tracks a1 and a2 but since no gap we
present as side a). On B1 Roger S scores first of a hat trick with
one of his nyc deep movers and follows it up with a accapella (B2).
The second Roger S mix on C2 is sparse and dubby and makes great
use of the guitar line.
D1 (the unfortunately-named Superministry "Rulin" mix)is credited
to Harvey and Beedle together and is a proper re-edit in every
sense with layer upon layer upon layer of bass, guitar and vocals
teasing the track onto the dancefloor. Finally the S-Man wraps it
on D2 with a soft tribal bounce.
O yeah, theres an E-Smoove mix on side C1. No comment.
