nils krogh has never been conventional and perpetually seeks out
the new. this time he has discovered the new in the old. things we
do is a song with a history, an ever changing musical chameleon
fit enough for re-edits, re-cuts and remixes. from the down-tempo
version on dnm compilation jazzflora to the high-speed dance floor
ignition on the double album and 12" dnm blueprints. now, nils has
finalized the perfect way he always thought his jazzbonbon should
be.
as nils himself explains:
"we did it live. we did it with no retakes. this is what i wanted
my track to be from the start: acoustic. live. real."
things we do is a traditional recording, done live in the studio
with real musicians. organic, breathing, alive. no overdose of
technicalities and technology getting in the way. in a day where
autotune is standard, nils provides a breather, something more
humane. it┤s the way it should be; energetic drums, pumping bass
line and smooth vocals. a seductive combination enough to satisfy
the critical mind as well as the easy listener. nils is keeping
himself true to his heroes, amongst others herbie hancock.
for this 12", another hero of nils has laid his magic touch on the
track. modern nu-jazz legend, nicola conte spices things we do up
with a heavier beat, adding more club-vibes and approaching deep
house. the track nears a state of pure groove, pure bass with the
italian nicola contes┤ master touch of revitalizing jazz,
something he has been successfully doing since his first release
jet sounds is 2000.

shops. this time they push things forward on their remix of things
