foundation music's 'state of the art' compilation series offers
a global examination of the nu-fusion and future funk scene by
country or region. the countries or region's earmarked for the
series are japan, usa, uk, brazil, scandinavia, france, germany
and italy.
foundation's policy is to select tracks that best showcase this
exciting genre. they also aim to ensure that in most cases the
tracks selected have not previously been released or have only
been released in that specific market, this they feel is crucial
in terms of the desirability of the product amongst the dj's,
collectors and tastemakers. the policy is also to have a core of
key artists and labels represented from each territory.
this first release is the japan edition compiled by dj mochizuki
of tokyo's groundbreaking club loop (he's also been a guest dj at
the co-op (the world's premier broken beat club!!)). this first
release contains tracks by soul bossa trio, yukihiro fukutomi, and
yoshushi kurobane of the kyoto jazz massive crew. the second will
be the usa edition compiled by nuphonic's adam goldstone due
followed by the uk, brazilian and scandanavian editions and so on.
dj mochizuki has forged an enviable reputation in japan as a
leading dj and producer. he has compiled a fantastic collection
of japanese artists and music for your pleasure. the title says
it all, "state of the art." it is a true statement in the art of
djing. each song evokes an emotion and pushes our subconscious
further into the future. each song invites us to special places
in japanese music. from the bakaya, who show us their
appreciation for the african experience to combo piano, displaying
their kronus quartet influenced musical statements. maybe it's
the warmth of yasushi kurobane's particle system or hearing echoes
of miles davis in the soul bossa trio's secret code.
whichever song it is, it clearly gives you insight to where japan
is headed and the man that will take you there, dj mochizuki.
let's get on board.
