Ben Sims and Truncates return to the ASSAILANTS project on their own
Obscurity Is Infinite imprint sees the duo drop four tightly-wound
Techno cuts, echoing one of 2018's biggest releases, their Chase
Sequences EP. The Art of Rolling EP begins with The Roller, a locked-
in undulating piece of Hardgroove punctuated with deft percussive
flourishes and the correct amount of cowbell, while Fracture 1 heads
into beatdown territory with on-the-beat claps and crafty rap samples.
Fracture 2 continues the swinging grooves in a lean, rumbling style
with soulful vocal clips offsetting an earworm riff. Closing out is
Effort 12 (a nod to 90s UK Techno), which treads a rattling, bell-riff
and DX strings path that walks the line between heads-down and arms-up
perfectly.
