Joris Voorn turns his hand to one of his favourite songs, Xavier
Rudd's 'Spirit Bird', to deliver a deeply considered remix of a
record that previously had no dance floor presence. Written as a
tribute to Aboriginal culture, Spirit Bird is both a plea for the
protection of sacred Australian lands and a powerful call to honour
Indigenous heritage and the natural world. Inspired by Xavier Rudd's
profound encounter with a sacred red-tailed Black Cockatoo in the
Australian desert, the song captures a moment of spiritual
awakening, translating it into lyrics and melodies that have touched
listeners around the globe. As a long-time admirer of Xavier's
music, Joris had contemplated remixing his 2012 single Spirit Bird
for several years. When that moment arose he approached the remix
with reverence and respect and in doing so preserved the soul of the
original while giving it new wings. With soaring strings,
effortlessly unfolding melodies and an anthemic crescendo, Joris's
interpretation elevates Xavier's powerful vocal performance,
