Release Notes:
Finally a Radio Luxembourg release for every living
soul to get over excited about. The Aberystwyth boys
have been busy touring around with Euros Childs and
performing their own sets in support of the great
man. This 4 track EP has Childs written all over it,
as their great mentor has fashioned a Gorky sound
that somehow seems as fresh as a daisy in the hands
of the Aber boys.
First track 'Mostyn and Diego' has Gorky heaven
living and breathing in its innards, as we get the
gorgeous combination of crackling synths and bonkers
lyrics blended together for psychedelic joy. The
lyrics are a combination of both English and Welsh
that sometimes seem to meld together creating a
whole new third language. 'Eli Haul' follows the
same template as the rock out psych pop carries on
unabated. Third track 'Diwrnod efoÆr Anifeiliaid'
enters the more heavenly Beach Boys side of the
band, with lush harmonies sweeping through the ears
creating a feeling of drifting away on clouds of
silk. Then just as you're about to float away the
absurd kicks back in to remind you that fun and
games is what these boys are all about. Last track
æMerch Sydd yn fy MhocedÆ is an ultra slow piano
driven track to close proceedings with just the
right amount of sublime beauty.
This is a superb release by Radio Lux and goes to
show that talk of them breaking out of Wales like
the SFA and Gorkys before them is well founded.
Their mix of manic mania and delicate gorgosity is a
musical marriage made in heaven. Recent winners at
the Welsh music Rap awards the boys seem set for a
huge breakthrough this year, no doubt.
