| | Can we have a round of applause for the Sonar Kollektiv? I can't | |
| | think of any other label that has meant so much to our little | |
| | Beyondjazz scene. There's hardly been a Beyondjazz radio playlist | |
| | without an SK track on it - and no, they aren't sponsoring us. | |
| | | |
| | So When this label turns 10, you have to celebrate. This double | |
| | cd package with the appropriate SK150 catalog number is a great | |
| | starter. CD1 might not be all that exciting to some of us, after | |
| | all we already own and cherish our personal best of Sonar | |
| | Kollektiv. But for those who don't this 17 track compilation is a | |
| | perfect starter, or maybe a way to fill some gaps in the | |
| | collection. And though there will always be personal favorites, I | |
| | think they managed quite well to capture the essence of the | |
| | label. | |
| | | |
| | CD1 includes very few uptempo 'dance' tunes, but that's because | |
| | there is a second disc with a dj mix by label owners Jazzanova | |
| | once again. It turned out to be a really nice housey mix, with a | |
| | couple of my favorites. The mixing of course is flawless. | |
| | | |
| | Undoubtedly there will be some great looking packaging and | |
| | matching booklet, making this double cd set a no-brainer for the | |
| | Sonar Kollektiv fans. Happy Birthday guys! | |

| | PS: perhaps the freshest news about this release is the fact that | |
| | Volker Meitz is currently assembling and rehearsing with the | |
| | Sonar Kollektiv Allstars Orchestra - there's even a string | |
| | section! Yup, that's right, they will be performing some of the | |
| | label highlights and start touring in autumn 2007... | |
