The 48th release on Crisis Of Man, *Machine Language* strips away
whatever optimism was left in NLI's earlier work. Death runs through
this EP, but so does rebirth: pulsating rhythms like blood through
veins, a reminder of the humanity we're trying to engineer out of
ourselves in an age of machines. This isn't an attack on technology;
it's about the possibility of coexistence. The title track merges
human fragility with the stutter of an artificial mind. 'Dawn of the
Gods' renders claustrophobia in sub-bass. 'Antidote' turns cute bell
tones sinister, the feeling of waking up in hospital and realising the
heartbeat monitor is yours. 'The Abyss' is built on terminal lucidity,
the surge of clarity just before death.
