Packaged in a heavy die-cut card replica of the original LP sleeve
from 2006, with insert signed by Andrew Chalk and Vikki Jackman.
"In 2006, Andrew Chalk published a mere 300 copies of the vinyl
edition of Goldfall through his Faraway Press imprint. Needless to
say, it quickly went out of print; yet he's been kind enough to
re-package the recordings on CD which hopefully will have a longer
shelf life than the ghost-like vinyl edition. This marks the first
published collaboration between Chalk and his partner Vikki
Jackman, who contributed a series of Satie inspirted piano
clusters which in turn were smeared into a spectral ambience of
continuous tonal unveiling. Like many Chalk recordings, nothing
happens; but in that still nothingness, Chalk extracts a sublime
sensibility that achieves what many of the holy minimalists failed
to actualize. It has been reported that Chalk's Goldfall is
something of a pallindrome, whereby one track is the exact
reversal of the other... it nonetheless proves that backwards or
forwards, Chalk remains one of the finest drone composers of the
modern era. The vinyl was one of our favorite recordings for 2006;
and surely, the CD will top the list for 2007."
