After a great debut record it is on to the second release for Phonoshuffle, no
fillers on this one thatÆs for sure. This record hits hard with 3 choice cutz
and a solid remix. I guess it is what we have come to expect from South AfricaÆs
premier producer Troydon and yes, he delivers once again. The A1 cut has real
heavy grindinÆ beats and a synthy bass hook from hell guaranteed to get those
punters screaminÆ. This cut definitely showcases TroydonÆs versatility as a
producer not confining himself to one sound. Some subtle vocal drops and amazing
edits create pure FIRE! Then on to A2, a more west coasty/chicago style jam,
think Hodges or 1200 Warriors, with snappy beats, grimey bass groove and a
little gtr hook that brings shivers down your spine after the break. Probably
gonna get canned by the usual suspects from Farina to Sneak etc. The track in
the B1 slot is a remix of IÆm with ya (A1 cut) from L.A. sensation Joshua Heath.
I think we should just drop the H at the end of his name cause you can
definitely feel the heat on this remix. Live bass and and funked up horns bring
JoshÆs signature sound to the cut and itÆs a party rocker for sure. Then
rounding out the EP is the B2 cut which is a collaboration by Troydon and
Massimo DaCosta during his short stay in NYC a few months back. Thus the title,
New York minute, I think they made this tune in a few hours. Some super cool
keys and stabs will keep the headz groovinÆ all night long and getting mad play
by Dj Heather. Definitely a well rounded EP which is sure to be a fixture in
your box if you can get your hands on one before they are all gone!
