This is the first in a series of three remix projects involving Lee
Norris. The other two will be released under his Norken and Nacht
Plank guises. Basically, what you have, is interpretations of
Metamatics tracks conducted by artists who have forged an
appreciation of, and a friendship with, the man himself, via the
Internet. No surprise then that the dynamic range seems that little
wider than your average Metamatics release. Hence, you get glitchy
glacial shimmering, disjointed reassembled electro, fluttering
beauty, reflective cathedral-esque ambience, tribal futurism and
more. The common thread though, is of course, Lee's knack of
combining hissy, glitchy scraping rhythmic contortions with smooth,
emotive synth textures. The remixers here have been smart enough to
retain that element, whilst subtly shifting the tracks into new
territory.
