"Funny that a Dubstep/Grime label of all things should
give itself the Aphex moniker - there'll be thousands of
IDM kids out there wondering if Richard D James has
started producing grime... and that in itself is worthy of
our highest comedy recommendations. Onto the tunes - "Felt
The Need" is the work of French born producer DJ Absurd
(aka Monstr), the man apparaently responsible for
releasing the first ever Grime EP in France, a twelve
that's already sold 8000 copies. Impressive stuff - and
here he's joined by Virus Syndicate's Nika D and by a
couple of remixes from MRK1 to make for a pristine little
4-tracker that has some production flourishes not commonly
found on twelves of this nature - microscopic bits of
guitar floating in the mix, carefully treated vocals and
nice arrangements that finally come out to their fullest
on MRK 1's instrumental on the flip, a track augmented by
another worrying and totally righteous bass drop that
gives this solid twelve the payoff it deserves."
