Release Notes:

The Newlydeads is Taime Downe's industrial project from the late 90's - early
millennium.

Originally they released 3 albums.

The first one simply titled The Newlydeads which is a great piece of industrial
metal with elements of glam and Taime's great voice all over it. The opening
track, Submission, is still performed live by Faster Pussycat and it's one of
the best and most powerful songs written in a long time. There are a lot of
other good songs on the record too, if you give it time to grown on you.

The second album was a remix album entitled Re-Bound. To me quite honest this
sucks bigtime. I have only listened to it 5 times or something, but there really
isn't a lot he has done to the songs to make them better. It's more this typical
remix thing where you take away the song and just add stuff for the sake of
remixing. I'm sure if I listen to it again that I will find something I like,
but at the time when I got it I was a lot more impressed with the real albums.

The last album was called Dead End and is by far the best one. The opening
track, Lipstick, is my absolute favourite track at the moment and I think it
beats most of what Faster Pussycat has done too. It sounds like faster pussycat
though..... I don't know. An excellent song. There are a lot of other killer
tunes on this record too, but Sleeping Pill, Lipstick and Six Feet Deep are the
ones that are easiest to access. When you love these you will slowly fall for
Night Of The Living Dead, Severed and all the other songs too. Dead End is a
much more mature album. The production is way better, it has a lot more power
and you can hear in the songs that Taime is more comfertable with the musical
direction on this record. The industrial elements work much better than on the
first record, even if they are both great.

So, Dreams From A Dirt Nap! This is a compilation and what a compilation it
is:-)))

Usually when artists release compilations, if you're a real fan, you always sit
there and miss songs or wonder "Why did they include this piece of shit and left
that diamond off???" Of course there isn't so much room for mistakes when you
know they've only released 2 albums, but still you never know.

The album kickstarts with Submission. A fantastic sexual domination song with a
throw your fists in the air and scream chorus.

It continiues with the second song from the second album Sleeping Pill, which is
waaaaayyyyyy cool and heartfelt sad.

Next song is Night Of The Living Dead which is an absolute classic too!

In Denial... took me some time to get into at first, but they key is in the
chorus. It has kinda the same stops as Submission and once you discover the
power of that the verse will also grow on you.

Go... was never one of my absolute favourites, but it's a good song and after
all those great ones it's ok to relax a bit too:-) The track is based on a 12
bar blues, but kinda hard to sopt in that wrapping.

Six Feet Deep... almost sounds like the Sisters Of Mercy song Dominion. Very
easy to get into and definitly a killer!!! "I'm digging a hole for you to bury
me and I'm not stopping 'til I'm six feet deep. I'm taking it slow cause I got
nowhere to be I'm not stopping til I'm six feet deep" You gotta love that:-)

Skin Tight Skin.... if I'm not mistaken this was the only track I was also into
on Re-bound, but I preffer the first album version which we get here. The extra
chord in the pre-chorus lifts the song tremendously. Fantastic song.

Die... is an ok track, but no massive hit either. For some reason I knew this
song would be on here and by all means it's good. Just not one of my favourites.
Maybe it's a bit too slow for me?

Cities In Dust... is a Siouxie and The Banshees cover. I have never heard the
original so can't compare for you guys, but this was also one of the songs that
was easiest to access on the first record. Very melodic and a very cool feel to
the whole thing. This is a remix version and a bit different from the first
album version, but it's a good remix and I have not decided yet which one I like
more. This has a very cool guitarriff which isn't on the original, but the
original might have better choruses.... not sure yet though.

Poor Little Baby... took some time for me to get properly into, but when I did
it really srtuck and now I love it. This actually sounds quite like what Faster
Pussycat is doing now.

Melting... Do you know this feeling you sometimes have when you wanna test how
spicy you can have the food and still manage to eat it? This song is like this
for me. It's slow and droony and Taime has put some fabolously sickening vocals
on top of his usual vocals. I hated this song the first couple of times I heard
it, but now I love it for exactly the same reasons I hated it for.

Severed... is excellent. Took me a couple of spins to discover it when I got
Dead End, but this is very cool. It's uptempo and has a killer industrial guitar
riff. Cool arrangement too. "The only hooker who never has sex":-)))

Black Eye... Also has this A/D (or wherever, but in that combination)
rock'n'roll chord combination and is a very good song. I'm not so crazy about
the chorus, but it's most definitly a good track.

Hot Pink Hot Rod... This has breakbeat influences and is basically just a wall
of noise. Not my favourite, but since it's just this one and the album isn't
full of these songs it's ok. I would rather have included Mental Hopscotch
though, but you can't win'em all:-)

Panties... is an unreleased track, which definitly makes this album worth while
for those of us who have the 3 other CDs too. I'm pretty sure that this song was
written after the release of Dead End. It's simply too good to be a leftover
from one of the other records. I might be wrong, but I can't see how anyone in
their right mind would leave this track off anything. I love this track.

Bunch of BS... is really, Sip Domniac, the intro to Dead End. I have no clue why
this was included as it's not really a song. It's a darkwave techno beat while
Taime (I think) is trying to get a line right ontop of it, but he sounds too
fucked up to do it right. It's funny though and it doesn't last for long so it's
not like you'll skip it either.

Black & Shiny... is another unreleased track and this is not as good as panties.
It sounds more like something that could have been on re-bound. I'm sure it will
grow on me in time, but it's no immidiate hit.

Silent Night... is unreleased and just hilarious! Can you imagine Taime trying
to sign Silent Night with feeling through a wollen sock of vocal effects LOL I
love this!!!

So if my memory serves me right, what we get here is 3 previously unreleased
tracks (which is not bad at all, considering most bigger bands only do 2 new
tracks for their best ofs.... if any at all) 6 songs from the debut album and 9
songs from Dead End.

And these are definitly the best songs!

Another plus point for this record is the order of the songs. You really get hit
after hit in just the perfect order. If they would play all these songs live it
would be fantastic.

One huge minus point is the omission of the song Lipstick. Lipstick is an
obvious hit and just as good as Submission in every way. I have e-mailed Taime
to ask about it, but he never gets back to me so I can only assume that it's due
to complications with the record lable who released Dead End which was suggested
to me at another board.

If you think Marilyn Manson is the best band ever who has never written a good
song, you'll like this. Most of this is great songwriting done in that same
Marilyn way.... maybe with a bit less techno influences.
