'Release the object' is Object's debut album. Minimal, refined
sounds evolve into to repetitive rythmic patterns and complex sound
structures. This is indeed the sound of the object: music seen as a
repetitive series of events and objects within a musical space.
Although minimalism is a dominant aspect of this release, it can't
be defined as the most important factor. For Object, minimalism is
a means to an end, not an end in itself. The outcome is an
experimental but musical album, sometimes revealing complex rythmic
patterns, sometimes exploring extremely high and low frequencies,
sometimes combining these two aspects.
One can find similarities of 'Release the object' in, for instance,
the works of Ultraphonist and Ryoji Ikeda. However, Object's
ecclectic and specific taste for composition provides this album
with a distinct, unique sound. The album was mastered by Metarc,
Metarc studios, Brussels.
This CD is limited to 500 numbered copies. It comes in a slim
transparent case, fitted in a cardboard wrapping. Included with the
CD is a color reproduction of a painting made by Ela Stasiuk, as
well as a slide designed by Submedia, called 'Nodes'. To view the
slide you need an appropriate projector.
During 2001 Object will continue to present unreleased tracks on
the Object web site. These tracks are not included on the album,
but are an integral part of the 'Release the object' concept.
You can listen to audio excerpts (2 min.) of this album by
following the links below. We've provided two formats: Realaudio
(16 Kbps low resolution and 32 Kbps high resolution, both streaming
audio) and mp3 (56 Kbps low resolution and 128 Kbps high
resolution, both for downloading). A decent sound system is needed
for accurate playback.
