Lab Cleaning Jams opens a new door with LCJ024, bringing together
label founder Ivaylo and longtime friend Sasse for their first
official studio collaboration.
The connection between the two goes back many years, shaped by
friendship, shared musical ground and a deep-rooted involvement in
house music. Sasse is also the driving force behind Blackhead
Studios, responsible for mastering the Lab Cleaning Jams catalogue
and playing an important part in defining the label's sonic
identity. After years of working closely behind the scenes, 'Entre'
finally brings Ivaylo and Sasse together on record.
True to its name, 'Entre' is an invitation to step inside. Built
around a chunky, heavyweight groove, the original moves with
patience and purpose-deep, physical and spacious, with its rolling
low end gradually opening the track into wider territory. Firmly
connected to the pair's deep house roots, it nevertheless looks
beyond them, carrying enough weight for the dance floor while
leaving space for the night to develop.
On the flip, longtime friend of the label Tom Gillieron delivers his
Flute Salad Rework. Drawing on his unmistakable London sensibility,
Tom strips the track into a rawer and more hypnotic rave workout.
The groove becomes increasingly restless, with sharp percussion,
warped flute figures and an extended mid-track passage that builds
tension before pulling the record firmly back onto the floor.
What makes LCJ024 special is the relationship between its two sides.
This is not simply an original followed by a remix for a different
setting. Both versions can inhabit the same night and work within
the same set - moving from the deeper, room-opening pull of the
original towards the loose, heads-down intensity of Tom's rework.
From the entrance to the heart of the rave, LCJ024 opens up the full
arc of a night.
The release also continues a long-standing creative relationship,
with more music from both Sasse and Tom Gillieron set to follow on
Lab Cleaning Jams.
