Release Notes:
Over the last few years, Garret Lee has become one
of the most sought after and highly influential
producers the UK has to offer. This was confirmed
when Garret won two Grammy Awards at the 2006
ceremony for his production work on U2's "How To
Dismantle An Atomic Bomb". U2 were honoured for
winning Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for "City
Of Blinding Lights". We are thrilled for Garret on
this success that he truly deserves.
In addition to this, Garret ended 2006 knowing that
the album he produced with Snow Patrol, "Eyes Open"
was the biggest selling UK album of the year. Big
congratulations to the band and Garret for this huge
achievement.
As we head into 2007, Garret is already hard at
work. In February he is due to finish producing the
new Editors LP at the lovely Grouse Lodge studios in
Ireland. From the snatches of music we have already
heard, we know the new album will build on the
ground swell of support the band has here and
overseas. Once this is completed, Garret is due to
begin work on the debut for the myspace phenomenon
that is Play Radio Play.
Just prior to this, in January Garret spent two
weeks in Olympic studios working on new tracks with
everyone's favourite nordic rockers The Hives.
Garret had an extremely busy 2006. The highlight of
which was undoubtedly the stunning new Bloc Party
album "A Weekend In the City" due for release in
February 2007. It's an album rich in textures and
atmosphere, yet with their trademark attitude,
perfectly captured by first single "The Prayer".
Earlier in 2006, Garret produced the Sony debut for
Vega 4. Garret also contributed mixes to the album.
During 2006 he also found time to complete writing
and producing tracks for his own artist album under
the moniker Jacknife Lee released on Fiction
Records, as well as working on new material for one
of his other creative collaborations, Saville
Robots.
During 2005 Garret worked with both established acts
and those about to breakthrough, on some truly
beautiful records. He produced the stunning Editors
single "Bullets", and worked with The Freelance
Hellraiser on his debut for Brightside/Sony,
"Waiting For Clearance". Garret co produced the
first single "Want You To Know" as well as the
future singles "Real Soul LED" and the title track
off the album "Waiting For Clearance". He also found
time to remix New Order's stunning "Waiting For The
Siren's Call"
At the beginning of 2005, Garret produced Atlantic
America's hard rockers Vaux debut album "Beyond
Virtue, Beyond Vice".
It was in 2004 that Garret spent the highly creative
and productive period of time with U2, working on
tracks that would become the multi million selling
album "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb". Garret has
production credits on seven tracks on the album,
including the Grammy Award winning "City Of Blinding
Lights", the stunning "A Man And A Woman" as well as
"One Step Closer". During the summer of 2005, Garret
was once again called on by U2 for more additional
production and mixes for various tracks featuring on
upcoming soundtracks.
Another highlight for Garret in 2004 was producing
and mixing the internationally acclaimed Snow Patrol
album "Final Straw". The album has now sold over two
million copies world wide, been nominated for Best
Album at the 2004 Brits and has recently won the
Ivor Novello award for Best Album in 2005.
In 2004 he produced three singles off Aqualung's
album for Warners and produced eight tracks for BMG
artist Kasabian's debut album.
Other recent production work includes adding
additional production and mixes to The Raveonettes
forthcoming single for Sony UK.
Garret is also an established remixer and has in the
past remixed singles by U2, Christina Aguilera,
Longview, Buck 65, Elkland and Lost Prophets. In
2003 he remixed singles by T.L.C., Pink, Eminem,
Junior Senior, Aqualung, Harry, F.S.O.L., Dirty
Vegas & Badly Drawn Boy and reproduced 'It's Tricky'
by Run DMC for a single release and remixed Basement
Jaxx 'Where's Your Head At' for US release.
Enjoy!
