Album consisting entirely of 11 covers of Scandinavian
Death Metal bands from the early 1990s, originating from
Norway, Sweden and Finland. AVULSED resurrect here songs
originally released on demos and EPs by genuine cult
bands which, in some cases, never even managed to
release a full-length album, yet still helped shape the
original sound of Scandinavian Death Metal. Among the
bands covered are FUNEBRE, CARBONIZED, OLD FUNERAL,
ABHOTH, PHLEGETHON, CREMATORY, CARTILAGE and MACABRE END
(pre-GOD MACABRE), among others.
Rather than simply reproducing the originals, AVULSED
bring them into their own territory, reinterpreting them
with their distinctive sound and personality while
faithfully respecting the original structures and
spirit. The result is a genuine declaration of love for
the most authentic Death Metal of the early 1990s and,
at the same time, an opportunity to discover some of
those bands that remained in the shadows despite their
importance in the development of the genre. As an
additional attraction, each cover is accompanied by a
recreation of the corresponding original artwork, while
each logo has been transformed into an AVULSED version,
turning the whole release into a genuine piece of
Underground archaeology. A daring and fantastic gem that
will delight both those already familiar with these
bands and those discovering them for the first time.
