From the very beginning, long before entering a career of
songwriting, producing, and deejaying, Bay Area native Andy Caldwell
had wrestled with an enormous passion for music and always pondered
what directions he wanted to take it. This love for music began as a
kid when he picked up the trumpet and piano and started to realize
the power and possibility of this art, the truly wondrous capacity
that instrument and song had for emulating human emotion.
This love only intensified going into his teenage years, during the
explosion of the underground rave scene. After frequenting many
underground parties, Andy discovered the mighty impact a liberating
house rhythm had on mind and soul. Since such music invoked strong
feeling within him, it seemed only natural that this sparked some
creative curiosity and a desire to be on the other end, to
reciprocate that emotion as an artist to the listener.
Thus began Andy's colorfully versatile career as a musician and
songwriter. He picked up deejaying at the age of 18 and quickly took
it to the next step as a producer, easily overcoming one of the
hardest obstacles of the trade: how to translate a wonderful feeling
to a melodic reality.
