Cambiata is a rock quintet, based out of central Maine, set out to compose
and perform original music. The band delivers an authentic blend of different
styles including rock, indie, and hardcore/metal music combined with an
energetic live show.
In the summer of 2005, after one full year of auditions, practice and
writing, guitarists Sean Morin, Miguel Barajas and bassist Stan Dzengelewski
settled down to welcome singer/songwriter Chris Moulton and drummer Daniel
McKellick to the bands lineup. Their collaboration during the fall marked
Cambiata's first recording planned for release in the summer of 2006
entitled, Into the Night.
Cambiata takes an individualistic approach to their musicality. Singer Chris
Moulton draws musical inspiration and artistic vision from the written word
in authors, novelists, and poets such as Charles Bukowski, William
Shakespeare, and Bucky Sinister to name a small percent. Sean Morin studied
jazz guitar at the Berklee College of Music, then transferred to Maine's own
University system to meticulously study the academics of composition in the
styles of concert music, jazz, and modern popular music. Miguel Barajas went
to UMASS Lowell and studied music. Also attending the University of Maine
circuit, Stan Dzengelewski took time studying ear training and theory,
applying this practice through the transcription of an abundance of favored
artists (The Beatles, Chick Corea and Return To Forever, John Coltrane,
Fugazi, Led Zeppelin, etc.). Our new edition to the band, drummer Dan
Capaldi, has also been studying music at the Berklee College of Music and
brings his own unique blend of dynamic styling and infectious grooves.
Not foreign to experience, each member shares a fondness for performing:
Morin coming from the touring hardcore/metal band, Barium (1998-2002),
Moulton and Capaldi from their own post-hardcore group, In The Arms Of
Providence (2002-2005), and Barajas and Dzengelewski's Nu-Metal act, Orginel
(2000-2004).
Cambiata (and members therein) have shared stages with the following
established acts: As Tall As Lions, The Receiving End Of Sirens, Thursday,
Hawthorne Heights, Head Automatica, Saves The Day, Bayside, Poison The Well,
Every Time I Die, The Blood Brothers, Between The Buried And Me, Converge,
