ôProtect The Peopleö is an emotionally charged instrumental through
which Boddhi Satva turns ancestral resistance into sound.
Built around deeply expressive percussion, sweeping strings and
sophisticated Rhodes harmonies, the composition unfolds with both
gravity and restraint. Subtle reggae-inflected guitar lines introduce
a feeling of defiance and spiritual resilience, while the piano solos
carry the listener into a more intimate space of introspection.
At the heart of the record lies a deceptively simple question:
What does it truly mean to protect the people?
Within todayÆs international context, that question carries
particular urgency. The composition reflects on the re-emergence of
colonial dynamics through new political, economic and military
structures; the continuing exploitation of African resources and
communities; and the wars, instability and confusion that repeatedly
leave African people carrying the heaviest consequences.
Rather than delivering its message through lyrics, ôProtect The
Peopleö allows the instruments themselves to speak. Its percussion
becomes a heartbeat and a call to collective consciousness. Its
strings communicate grief and dignity. Its guitars suggest
resistance, while its piano searches for clarity amid disorder.
The result is neither a protest anthem in the conventional sense
nor simply a dancefloor record. It is an instrumental meditation
on responsibility, resistance and collective protectionùa reminder
that protecting the people also means protecting their dignity,
memory, sovereignty and future.
