At Record Kicks we are proud to announce a great step forward in
the 12? collection, this time we present UNITY a brand new broken
soul project led by production duo Mike Adlington (Adders) and
Chris Mapp (Sugar Beats). Unity bring together a plethora of
soulful influences to create uplifting sounds for contemporary
ears. Drawing on elements of broken beat, electro, disco, jazz and
soul music, Unity's sound reflects the diverse musical experiences
of its members and collaborators. From emerging jazz talent to
filthy beat-makers to soulful vocalists, Unity aim to bring
together the diversity present in the music scene around them and
bring it to the dancefloor. Unity are joined here by vocalists
Lizzy Parks (Nostalgia 77/Heritage Orchestra) and Leo Altarelli
(Sugar beats). Also featured is woodwind demon Mike Fletcher and
keyboardist Rob Norman.
The Ep features also 3 fantastic reworks. On the first one Tru
Thoughts new hero DIESLER shows once again his magic touch with a
deep funk rmx of Escape that will blow every dancefloor. Fresh
Gilles Peterson BBC award winner Nostalgia 77 turned Don?t wanna
change into a less jazzy more drum-heavy funky groove. Last
but not list UNIQUE Record new talent AIFF send us directly back
into the Africa 70 sound with a brilliant afrobeat version of Don?t
wanna change.
With a band of celebrity fans that already featured Norman Jay,
Gilles Peterson and Henry Storch you can?t go wrong, this is a
