Mentioned in a recent feature on Resident Advisor called " Italians Do
It Darker" about the dark side of the Italian techno scene. Obtane
lives up to the phrase once again on his latest release on Sonic
Groove entitled "Mercury's Lounge". Obtane hypnotizes you with the
dark & catchy sci fi bleepy melody in "Gemini". Layered with sharp
fast moving 16 note high hat pattern plus deep pulsating bass stab
equals an infectious mixture of rhythm and sound design. This is one
song that for sure will be stuck in your head after hearing it once.
On the flip side the hypnosis continues with "Virgo". A beautifully
woven staccato sounding song whose groove rides on and on with the
occasional outer space reverberation sounding stabs and distortion
washes thrown on top. This is sci fi techno at it s best. Obtane is
one Italian who does it dark, very dark!
