"Koma and Bones, the Lancaster based trio of Proteus, Koma and Bones,
deliver their take on breaks, beats and more beats! A driving mix, with a
definite lean to the experimental, they have certainly achieved their aim
to include the various flavours from all parts of the breaks scene,
ranging from the tribally and hard pounding, through to the steppy and 4/4.
The next level breaks journey kicks off with the tight beats of
Terminalheadz and their mix of SireneÆs Love; Followed by the grooves and
percussive niceties of Precision Cuts and their relick of Rhythm Asobi by
RYU. From the flava & style best described as Bushwackaesque, the gents
drop a flip-side track off a US white label. A dubbed out blend of 4/4 and
breaks entitled the Skull Valley Dub of Drop Cultures Come Alive. Track 4
hits you full on with the big sound of 2Sinners. Mr. Jingles builds on its
mellow beats and strings before taking it to the darker side, where the
Sinners are in their element.
The middle order features two artists Koma & BoneÆs cite as taking the
scene off into a different direction. Chris Carter with What Sounds Are, an
exclusive given to the guys and B.L.I.M.Æs corking mix of CirculationÆs
Turquoise on Hooj are great examples of why breaks are at last making it
through to the main room! European producer Jark Prongo is featured with
Q-John. Hugely liked, but know very little about. Then they open it out
slightly and edge towards the progressive with a track by Markus, with
the Electroid Mix of Fire.
No breaks compilation should be without Meat Katie. Nightstalker by
Altitude is one of Koma & BonesÆ favourites mixes of Mr. PemberÆs and
something Danny Tenaglia might well play out. Taken a little deeper with
the next track we fall straight into the lap of the techno and experimental
feel of Blu Ma TenÆs M.A.C.E. on Guidance. The driving 4/4 sound of
PhenderÆs, Rhythm Is This by Mr. Natural, the energy and vibe of PMTÆs
mix of W.O.W.Æs Intensify and the very dancefloor rolla that is High
Rollin from the men themselves, Koma & Bones take us right to the top
