"Wizard Tattoo creates genre-defying music that blends
doom, stoner rock, jazz, black metal and grunge. With
their music, Wizard Tattoo captivates with haunting
melodies, heavy riffs, and introspective lyrics inspired
by comics, horror, and fantasy. Their DIY approach
showcases their commitment, balancing heaviness and
melody for an unforgettable experience."
Every myth about forbidden knowledge is really a myth
about technology. When Gods Had Hands drags that idea
from the Book of Enoch to the edge of the Singularity.
The new album from Indianapolis one man band Wizard
Tattoo is a progressive blackened doom concept record in
eight movements. The Watchers fall from the sky and hand
mankind the forbidden gifts, fire, metallurgy and the
blade, and those gifts leave a stain. Thousands of years
later humanity picks up the same tools to build a new
god out of silicon and light, chasing the reach that
damned the angels before them. The Fall keeps happening.
We just keep changing what we call the sky.
The album began with Fausto Aurelius, who wrote its
concept, narrative and philosophy. He runs through the
record on vocals and spoken word, his voice chopped and
processed into something between prophet and machine,
and the essay that anchors it is his as well. Bram the
Bard wrote and played everything else, recording,
mixing, mastering and drawing the art by hand. The music
moves between crushing doom, blackened fury and long
progressive stretches, with vintage film samples
threaded through and a flash of Middle Eastern texture
on one movement. Beneath the riffs sits real weight, the
Nephilim myth, Ricoeur's stain, Ellul's Technique and
Kurzweil's Singularity, all circling one question: what
kind of new gods are we building, and what will they
cost us?
"This started as an attempt to make something different.
Not black metal, not doom, not progressive, but
something else entirely. The concept sent me back into
dark industrial and black metal, and into religion and
philosophy, trying to understand what's happening to the
culture of humanity. I'm proud of this contribution to
the myth of Wizard Tattoo."

"After Living Just for Dying I wanted a real departure,
to lean all the way into the blackened side for a whole
album, the way I first did on 'Tomorrow Never Dies.' The
influences run wide, classical, industrial, 90s
alternative, and the whole thing took a year to
conceptualize and come together. It's the furthest I've
pushed Wizard Tattoo."
