release notes:
"Wizard Tattoo creates genre-defying music that blends doom, stoner rock,
jazz, black metal and grunge. With their music, Wizard Tattoo captivates
with haunting melodies, heavy riffs, and introspective lyrics inspired by
comics, horror, and fantasy. Their DIY approach showcases their
commitment, balancing heaviness and melody for an unforgettable
experience."
Wizard Tattoo, the genre bending Indianapolis-based metal band by
multi-instrumentalist Bram the Bard, returns with the debut full-length
concept album Fables of the Damned. Picking up where the self-titled EP
left off, Fables... continues the story of a man who gets a tattoo of a
wizard and slowly loses his mind-while introducing new characters like
the loser of the infamous battle from the previously released "Wizard
Knife Fight." and more. Heavier and darker, Fables... pulls from doom
influences (Conan, SubRosa, Bongripper) with classic rock (Led Zeppelin,
Motley Crue), as well as a healthy dose of 90s alternative (Smashing
Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, Ministry).
Fans of Wizard Tattoo's unique blend of catchy riffs with progressive and
heavy elements will not be disappointed with Fables of the Damned. The
album is a masterful display of Bram the Bard's musical prowess and a
testament to the band's ability to seamlessly blend genres into a
cohesive, hard-hitting sound.
"...probably the best classic rock record since, I dunno, Bat Out of
Hell" - Classic Rock Magazine
"Bram the Bard proves to be a gifted multi-instrumentalist who delivers
an eclectic album and a perfect follow-up to his previous EP. " -
Harbinger of D.O.O.M.
"Packed full of ingenious ideas, sounds and grooves. This is first rate
entertainment from start to finish." - Outlaws of the Sun
"In such a saturated genre as Stoner Doom, the music is always a danger
of becoming a little too interchangeable. Fables of the Damned however
manages to avoid this pitfall by packing in a lot of musical variety..."
- Ghost Cult Mag
"Concept albums are all the rage, and Bram the Bard is slightly ahead of
the trend with Fables of the Damned continuing the saga of a dude who
gets a tattoo and things get...weird. And fun, exciting and even heavy.
It's an addictive blend of old-school metal with a prog/stoner twist that
will plant more than one stank face grin on thy visage. Damn, this guy's
fucking good!!" - The Clean and Sober Stoner
"Out since the end of June, the new Wizard Tattoo album Fables Of The
Damned. The one-man project by Bram The Bard, where the man issues his
wisdom through riffs and parables. For the man is a storyteller, a master
at making clashing patterns work, weaving flourishes of country and
Americana expertly into his metal, his doom and his ability to deliver a
haunting melody." - Stoner Hive
