> Notes...:
After a 3 year hiatus, cult Dublin imprint Apartment Records returns
to mark its 15th anniversary with its most expansive solo release
yet, the debut album from Dublin musician and producer DRM.
“The Delphi Coracle”.is a tricky to define album of electro-acoustic
experiments & DIY, home-made modulated electronics dialed in from
the cosmos. Celestial drones & cosmic stepping electronix wrapped
around a soulful, breakbeat infused, glitching hypnosis from a
different world.
“The Delphi Coracle” is not your typical electronica album.
Bookended by two engrossing drone sequences, “GS2” and “Ten Nines”,
these monoliths of sound are two deconstructed pieces of
Turkish-influenced folk music originally played by DRM on a bağlama,
a lute instrument from Central Asia and pre-Turkish Anatolia.
The core of the album extends from the hypnotic melodies of “Dean
Inge He Say” and “Precipise”, through to the haunting glitches of
“4GH” and “Metronymia” before it peaks on the stepping, cosmic
electro of “Fleshback Sequence” and “Tarnover”.
“The Delphi Coracle” is inspired by the writing of John Brunner, in
particular "The Shockwave Rider", a novel whose tale of love and
wisdom in a time of societal degradation is never more relevant.
"You are in circular motion around a planet. You are being overtaken
by another object, also in circular orbit, moving several km./sec
faster. You accelerate to try and catch up.
See you later, accelerator.
*Much later."
