I suppose DJ Shadow wanted to make a cheesy rock song after various
comments and comparisons made in the press about his work. Hence
"High Noon," a little something new to go along with his partial
collection of material prior to "Endtroducing." The single is
initially built on an okay guitar riff, later giving way to a focus
on the techno riff that had mildly been chugging underneath. The
song becomes much cooler once you put the guitar in the back of
your mind. You can find it as well as the Iron Butterfly vibe of
"Organ Donor (extended overhaul)" on the domestic collection, but
you won't get the hectic "Devil's Advocate" (a kissing cousin to
"Red Bus Needs to Leave").
