The Montreal Baroque Festival is celebrating its
fifth birthday already! Thanks to the fertile
imagination of its director, the gambist Susie
Napper, each year's edition has been a great
success and the festival has become a rendezvous
for all lovers of Baroque music and for the general
public. The festival, which takes place in the
heart of Old Montreal during the month of June,
brings together some of the world's best singers
and instrumentalists specializing in Baroque music
from around the world. The ATMA label has been
closely linked with the festival since it began,
and is very proud to present the disc Du Ciel aux
enfers (From Heaven to Hell). This compilation of
some of the best recordings made in association
with the festival serves as a vivid family portrait
of all the artists that have taken part in it. Long
live the Montreal Baroque Festival!
