If you've not encountered Marion Poncet before, don't worry - it's one of
umpteen aliases utilised by Romain Renaud, the producer best known as
Traumer). His decision to use it once more is something of a surprise,
though, given that almost a decade has passed since he last did. This is
his first album under the alias and an absolute masterclass in the classy
and cultured potential of dusty, woozy and emotive deep house. Beginning
with the Rhodes-laden shuffle of yearning opener 'Ma Douce Tempete', the
Paris-based artist serves up an attractive mix of atmospheric, tech-tinged
deep house minimalism ('SAID'), break-sporting bass-heavy hedonism (the
jazzy and sludgy 'Furious Stanca'), melancholic beauty ('Suffering
Cliffs'), dub-house hypnotism ('Distant De Touche') and sun-soaked
excellence ('MDR').
enjoy!
