French label Skylax expand operations with the launch of the Stay
Underground, It Pays initiative with the excellent Italian producer
Simoncino at the helm for the debut release under his new Late Night Music
alias. Judging by the material he has released so far this year, Simoncino
doesn't actually believe in the concept of sleep and the five tracks
Simoncino's produced for the Free Your Mind EP are as good as anything he's
released to date. The label's press release conjures up the names of house
and techno royalty like Mr Fingers, Mike Dunn, Joe Lewis, Drexciya,
Dopplereffekt & Legowelt to describe what to expect here and that rings
true, with the Late Night Music sound focusing on a heavily saturated
thrust down the middle of vintage Chicago and Detroit dynamics. Do check
the remix of the title track from Lerosa!
enjoy!
