release notes:
Formed in 2021, Selenoplexia has developed a sound grounded in death and
black metal while reaching into doom, sludge, post-rock, and progressive
music. Guitarist Daniel, drummer Jonathan, bassist Sawyer, and vocalist
Courtney move between dissonant atmosphere and sheer aggression, with
songs built around shifting structures, stark contrasts, and a strong
sense of narrative.
The band released its debut EP in 2022, followed by its first
full-length, Exalt and Despair, on October 13, 2023. The album received
favorable attention from outlets including the Chicago Reader and
Denmark's Metalized. Selenoplexia has since played extensively throughout
Chicago and the Midwest, sharing bills with Goatwhore, Maul, Morta Skuld,
Deterioration, Escuela Grind, and others.
