Ripper's note: one from the archive's here. Particularly nice
is the last track, sort of somewhere between Gurdjieff and
William Basinski.
Taking a cue from the sessions that produced the band's heady
'96 debut EP on Atavistic, Electronic.... generates the warm
analog hum you've come to associate with the unusually
brilliant output from Crescent's own Bristol-based 'studio'.
The ESC recordings are characterized by distant vintage synth
drones anchored by Matt's looped, jazzy drumming; both are
underpinned by the golden, haunting sound of vinyl tach'ing @
16 RPM, coalescing beautifully as an immaculately stoned
rhythm in the background.
