A great photo edit isn't about applying as many effects as possible. It's about knowing
what an image needs and having the Photoshop skills to make it happen.
In this class, you'll learn how to use Adobe Photoshop for photo editing, portrait
retouching, restoration, creative effects, and image manipulation through a wide range of
practical techniques and exercises.
We'll begin with the essential Photoshop tools you'll need throughout the class. You'll
learn how to work with colors, cropping, selections, brushes, layers, healing and
adjustment tools, text, and the Pen Tool. You'll also explore Actions, custom brushes and
patterns, and even basic animation, giving you a solid Photoshop workflow before moving
into more advanced photography techniques.
From there, we'll focus on portrait and photography editing. You'll learn how to edit
portraits, work with Camera Raw, create high-end portrait edits, apply digital makeup,
experiment with 3D portrait effects, and create professional-looking studio backgrounds.
You'll also explore color and lighting techniques, including changing colors, creating
golden and blue hour looks, enhancing landscapes for social media, and creating neon
effects.
Next, we'll tackle some of the most useful image manipulation skills in Photoshop. You'll
learn how to remove subjects, replace skies manually and with Photoshop's dedicated Sky
Replacement tool, change object colors, and use composition tools to combine images more
effectively.
We'll also work with older and damaged photographs. You'll learn how to restore old
portraits, colorize black-and-white images, and recover overexposed portraits to give
photographs a new life. For more detailed portrait work, we'll explore skin smoothing,
Neural Filters, glow effects, makeup techniques, gold and silver effects, Liquify, Puppet
Warp, background replacement, and even detailed hair editing techniques.
Finally, we'll explore different filter categories for portraits, creative editing,
photography, color, and restoration, helping you understand how filters can become part of
a broader editing workflow rather than simply being one-click effects.
By the end of the class, you'll have a broad Photoshop photo-editing toolkit that you can
use for portraits, landscapes, restorations, social media photography, creative
compositions, and your own personal or professional projects.

Create your own complete photo edit or creative photo composition in Photoshop.
Choose a photograph that gives you something interesting to work with. It could be a
portrait, landscape, older photograph, social media image, or several photos that you'd
like to combine into one creative composition.
Start by analyzing your image and deciding what you actually want to improve or transform.
You might correct the lighting and colors, retouch a portrait, smooth the skin, change the
background, remove unwanted elements, replace the sky, apply a creative lighting effect,
restore an older photograph, or combine multiple images into something entirely new.
Try to combine several techniques from the class rather than relying on a single effect.
