Release Notes:

I must admit I have a soft spot for Norwegian
indiepop music - ever since A-Ha they've had an
innate ability to make sugary and sweet sound
incredibly listenable. We've had Kings of
Convenience and Royksopp recently, and now Sondre
Lerche is back with his fourth album and possibly
his most convincing to date. The Bergen-born singer
and guitarist manages deftly to blend
Brazilian-styled guitar playing with huge pop song
structures and vocals (at times reminiscent of
Steely Dan, and that ain't a diss) and this works in
his favour. In a time when indie pop is moving
further and further towards the loathsome 'nu-rave'
sound, it's refreshing to hear someone who can sing
and write intelligently and hear songs that you can
genuinely listen to over and over. The choice cut on
here in my opinion is the album's opener 'Airport
Taxi Reception' which sounds like Chick Corea being
covered by the Wannadies... now that's the kind of
music we all need this summer! Lovely.
