With a CV that already boasts its own record label, radio
show, world class productions and DJ appearances
alongside many of the DJ greats, its evident that at the
age of just 23 Jon Gurd has already matured into a highly
respected artist. He pushes an intelligent, underground
sound that encompasses house and electro, delivered in a
very distinctive fashion.
As he continues to establish himself as one of the UKÆs
finest up-and-coming talents, his studio work continues
to bombard the record boxes of dance musicÆs elite as
well as both the DJ Download and Beatport charts.
æFutureÆ received Radio One airplay from Fergie, whilst
the massive æLemon Sherbert found its way onto Sander
Kleinenberg's Everybody Part 3 mix, Max Grahams July 2006
Essential Mix and again with æMind ControlÆ on Paul
Woolfords October 2005 Essential Mix.
His remix of Random House Projects Freakin Me reached
number 1 on the DJ download chart and number 4 in the
Beatport chart and featured on the compliations Addicted
on Platipus (mixed by Luke Chable) and Electrolush: The
Very Best Of Minimal & Electro Nouveau on Om records US,
whilst Superbass Got To Pieces (also on Cr2) reached the
heights of number 3 in the Beatport house chart. These
resulted in high expectations ahead of the release of
æHigh Volume (on Stripped Records) and his efforts
alongside Dave Robertson. This includes Camel, Thai
Chilli and in particular The Rendition, released this
summer on Cr2. The Rendition has already received major
support from Lee Burridge, Sander Kleinenberg, D.Ramirez
and ClubClass and We Loveà resident Nic Fanciulli (who
featured The Rendition on his recent Essential Mix) as
well as plays on Radio 1 from Pete Tong and Fergie. With
major promotion, high profile remixes and extensive radio
play on the horizon for The Rendition, this looks set to
be his finest release to date.
Add to this Jons devastating remixes of Micky Slims Acid
Is The Bomb (on Bomb Squad Records), Paul Harris Find
Yourself A Friend (Toolroom) and Ralph Rosario You Used
To Hold (Suesse), its evident that major interest in
building for Jon worldwide. Such demand has resulted in
Jons inclusion in Aprils IDJ Magazine in their One To
Watch column and his first major tour when he visited
Brazil in July. Over the space of three weeks Jon
introduced his sound to more than 20,000 ecstatic
clubbers with gigs in Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo
Horizonte. In 2006 Jons talent has been showcased at
ClubClass at the Ministry Of Sound in London, The Mint
Club in Leeds, Futurism at Turnmills in London and River
in Maidstone and at Club èachmatine in Lithuania amongst
others. And with tours of North America and Brazil,
releases on his Kill A Watt label and future broadcasts
of his Proton Radio show in the pipeline, its clear that
Jons ascendancy is set to rise even further.
