Read the News return to RaRaLand Records with "Look at Me", teaming
up with HeAndMe for the label's fourth release.
Following "Little Jaguar", their first release on the imprint, "Look
at Me" heads into a more immediate Indie Dance direction. A
prominent bassline carries the track, while the vocals bring a clear
70s disco influence without pushing it too far into retro territory.
There is a loose, almost playful quality to the production, but the
track stays very much focused on the floor. The vocal hooks, bass
movement and slightly off-centre details give it a character of its
own, with the whole thing geared towards movement rather than big
dramatic moments.
Together with HeAndMe, Read the News deliver a party record that
feels direct, distinctive and hard to stand still to, while
continuing the broadening sound of RaRaLand after "Little Jaguar",
"Shivers" and "Strawberry".
