The Abstract Afro Lounge Vol II - Straight Magic/Afro Tech is the
follow up to our highly acclaimed Abstract Afro Lounge Volume I
compilation. Exploring deeper the depths of Afro house vocals and
rhythms, this new compilation features Blaze, Kabbala, Ananda
Project, Men From The Nile, Basil, and DJ Hiro.
Nite Grooves returns with Volume 2-and not a minute too soon for fans
of this earthy, sweat-inducing style of deep club music.Twelve
spiritually-minded organic tracks are included from the Nite Grooves
roster, some previously released, others to be released in support of
this compilation.
Deep soulful numbers like Ananda Project featuring Heather Johnson's
"Straight Magic," DJ Hiro featuring Masabumi Kikuchi's "Kote Moun
Yo," and Lost Tymezz' "Every Day" have all proven their worth on the
underground dancefloors of the world in the past years, but each
enjoys previously unreleased mixes on this set by Wamdue's Chris
Brann, Joe Claussell, and USG (Ron Trent and Anthony Nicholson),
respectively.
Other standouts include the opening Klubhead Vocal of "More Than
Gold" by Palmer Brown and the Blaze crew, with it's gritty vocal,
afro-pop rhythm guitars, sensual sax lines, and xylophone solos, as
well as the newly remastered version of the original afro-funk
favorite "Ashewa Ara" by Kabbala from way back in 1982.
Experimental upstart Jaymz Nylon manages to sneak on with his classic
dub of "Afro Tech," a very improvisational feeling afro-jazz
excursion that's probably the least dance-oriented track included
here, and newcomer Sumble Orchestra debuts with an edited version of
their pensive, flute-filled "Inner Spirit."
With colorful primitive folk artwork filling the cover of the
commercial release, Abstract Afro Lounge II is a complete package,
intended to transport your body and soul to a higher,
ancestrally-rooted, plane through some of the most transcendent music
on the planet.
