This latest release from Lex super-signings Jneiro
Jarel and Dr Who Dat? under the "Shape Of Broad Minds"
moniker is simply the best thing we've heard from the
ever-reliable Lex camp in some time and has been more
or less on constant rotation here since it dropped a
couple of days ago. Although we really enjoyed Dr Who
Dat?'s debut, 'Blue Experience' is where his
production expertise goes into overdrive, and although
there might be sly whispers behind the bike-sheds of
Madlib and J Dilla, the more you listen to these
tracks the more it becomes clear that the man is
refining his own style. Flow-wise these emcees are on
top form too, and it hardly comes as a surprise when
they're joined by the God-like MF Doom on Dat?'s remix
of the opening track 'Let's Go'. Like the classic J88
ep, there's not a dull track on here, and when it
draws to an all-too-quick conclusion it will leave you
wondering where the hell the full-length is. This is
real hip hop music, and proof that Lex are one of the
only labels left out there willing to commit to the
scene and make it fun again.
