█ █▓░█ The Go! Team were born out of one manÆs love of █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ sampling. Now, the Brighton band is a six-piece ù █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ back with their first new material since 2005. █░▓█ █

█ █▓░█ The Go! TeamÆs first album (Thunder, Lightning, █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Strike, 2005) was recorded almost entirely by Ian █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Parton. His love of creating sample-based songs █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ stretches back to his early-20s, when he would record █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ interesting sounds off of his TV (anything from █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Sesame Street to police sirens), and merge them █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ together to make what he called ôsound collagesö. █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ During downtime from his day job as a filmmaker, █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Parton would work on his music, and before too long █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ he had the bones of Thunder, Lightning, Strike █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ recorded. █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Eager for him to play live, PartonÆs label gave him █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ three weeks to prepare to support Franz Ferdinand. So █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ he decided to gather the most varied collection of █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ musicians he could. There are six of them in all, █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ including two drummers and a female rapper called █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Ninja. █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ The live incarnation of the band was such a massive █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ success (their excitable onstage energy seeps into █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ every song), that all six members now contribute to █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ the records too. █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Previously, Parton has said that his ultimate aim is █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ to create songs that are catchy and experimental. The █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ groupÆs new single æGrip Like A ViceÆ, with its █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ distorted Casio keyboard sample and NinjaÆs brilliant █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ old-school rap, is certainly both of those. The band █░▓█ █
