RELEASE NOTES
Edvard Torstein and I went to South Africa in 2004 when Norwegian
trumpet player, Torgrim Sollid, took his band S°yr to Camp Town.
That's when we met Andre, who played a couple of gigs with us and
then joined the band again for a performance at the Oslo jazz
festival later that year. I immediately felt that Andre would be a
perfect pianist for a classic jazz-quartet: sax, piano, bass and
drums, a format which I hadnµt worked in for many years.
The special sound of the four of us playing together, as well as a
great jazz record from the sixties that I used to listen to whilst
growing up, has been the major inspiration for making this record.
The distance between our home cities is 6476,6 miles. I hope the
joy we get from making music together can reach you all the way to
your loudspeakers in Cape Town and Oslo.
