█ █▓░█ Out from the shadows, Ghosts are moving into the █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ limelight. █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Success has been a long time coming for Ghosts, who █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ started playing together a decade ago. Although they █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ were still at school when they formed, it quickly █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ became clear that being in a band was far more █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ exciting than doing office jobs. But that was in █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ 1996, when they were content playing Britpop covers. █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Since then, the Surrey-based quintetÆs music (and █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ lineup) has gone through a number of seismic changes. █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Around the turn of the century, they started calling █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ themselves Polanski and released a number of █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Spiritualized-influenced singles to great acclaim but █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ little commercial success. Soon after, the bandÆs █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ original singer quit, and this forced another change █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ of direction ù one that would finally prove fruitful. █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Simon, the bandÆs main songwriter duly switched his █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ attentions from doomy synths to jangly guitars, also █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ taking over vocal duties. Polanski changed their █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ name, and Ghosts were born. █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ Since then, the band has found success. Songs like █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ æStay The NightÆ, with its bustling trumpets and █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ stammering piano line, helped them become █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ word-of-mouth sensations, and their brand of upbeat █░▓█ █
█ █▓░█ melodic rock translates perfectly to the live stage. █░▓█ █
