In the two decades that have passed since his
discovery of electronic music, Mike Hoska has
had a relentless passion for pushing boundaries.
He continues to redefine accepted musical
genres, cutting and scratching flawlessly to
create wild and new hybridized forms of music.
Beyond studio and performance, Hoska travels
regularly as a pro DJ of Numark Industries.
Essentially he travels around the world
displaying and demonstrating DJ products as a
full time job. In 1991 Mike gained recognition
for his turntable skills as a member of several
local hip hop groups, and he competed in local
and DMC competitions in his new home of Boston,
MA after moving from south Florida. More
currently, he is a part-time resident at the
progressive artist commune ASS220. With over 40
production credits to his name, working with
labels such as Little Mountain, Release Records,
and his own imprint label, Cozymusic, we can now
proudly say that Mike is here with us, and we
are going to push him to the limit with his wild
party house music. It's simply incredible, and
its been tried and tested on soundsystems all
over the world at the best parties. His pieces
have been supported by the biggest names in the
industry, ranging from guys like Sander
Kleinenberg to Plump DJs to Chris Fortier to
James Zabiela - this jack of all trades
continues to impress with each new production he
makes. To start, "Franks First Date" is
extremely impossible to explain in words or by
defining in a stylistic sense. It has a rock
type feel with the baseline, but then it goes
manic by the main break with some sort of siren
grit sound that swivels upward. It's a peak
time monster that is downright filthy, and you
have to play it at the right time to just get
that look of wonderment in the partiers faces.
"Beta4" is the B side and this is incredible as
well. Pumping, big room, hypnotic, proper party
music is what this is. This is very reminiscent
of the old school Sasha stuff with a small touch
of a chord riff layering overtop the groove,
keeping it subtle without going overboard. This
whole EP reeks of proper proper proper proper
and it is a privilege for us to be presenting
you with this material. Mike is the man and he
will unquestionably become an excellent addition
to our roster of artists, paving the way for
aspiring producers to look at and learn from.
