Release Notes:
22-year-old Amanda Tosoff is already one of the
most compelling young voices in the Vancouver jazz
scene. A recent graduate of the Capilano College
Jazz Studies Program, she has performed with such
jazz luminaries as Ed Thigpen, Regina Carter,
Seamus Blake, Jane Bunnett, and Kate
Hammett-Vaughan. Her quartet features some of the
most talented young players in Vancouver: Evan
Arntzen saxophones, Sean Cronin bass, and Morgan
Childs drums. The band plays a mix of standards and
originals, with Amanda's highly swinging approach
to the piano reflecting the sound of such greats as
Oscar Peterson, Renee Rosnes, and Bill Evans. A
debut CD called Still Life (Cellar Live) has set
tongues a-wagging. Undoubtedly, big things are in
store for this group.
