Release Notes:
There's always something threatening coming from
the band led by the composer Kaspar Ewald, from
Basel, Switzerland. The orchestra had previously
released their debut-CD called "Thieves" (in
German: "RΣuber"), where the intensivess of the
music has yet to be heard in the country. Now, with
the so-called "exorbitant ensemble", an incredible
"reptile" is leashed upon us. Ewald tells us the
story of a dragon. Right until the end of the tale,
Ewald puts his musicians into a state of ferment by
confronting them with all sorts of traps, such as
odd time signatures and rhythmical variations, and
expecting in return the highest level of technical
ability. Nonetheless, the music never sounds too
complicated. The musicians adapt well to the
circumstance and are led, with full swing, to put
their whole heart and soul into the works, albeit
remaining precise like the mechanism of a precision
watch. This second effort from Kaspar Ewald is
comparable to the first one, to the point that we
hope the "reptile" shall continue to assault us
more frequently.
