Akron, Ohio sci-fi heavyweights TITANS OF MARS formed in
2024 to make metal that moves slowly and hits hard. Doom
weight, sludge grime, songs about power, false idols,
and cutting the strings.
Part sermon and part sci-fi nightmare, Aethos is the
debut full-length from Akron's TITANS OF MARS. On the
surface, it's a world of self-appointed gods, programmed
saviors, and a humanity strung along by lines it can't
see. Underneath, it's a reckoning with the monsters
inside us. "Leviathan is a love letter to the monsters
of our lives," says vocalist Michael Caito Khurshid. "We
all have those monsters. They eat at us eternally until
we learn to accept ourselves and our faults, recognizing
we are who we are because of and in spite of them."
Across eight tracks, from the opening declaration of
"Repudiation" to the title track's closing call to rise
from apathy, Aethos pairs the weight of doom and the
grime of sludge with lyrics that refuse easy victories.
It was recorded in March 2025 at Sound by Sully Studios
in Bath, Ohio, and co-produced, mixed, and mastered by
the band and Sean "Sully" Sullivan. The artwork by Human
Furnace depicts flayed titans, hovering saucers, and a
blank-eyed multitude tethered beneath an alien sky.
