Release Notes:
The Sleeping Years is the new project for
ex-Catchers.
Dale was born in Coleraine, Northern Ireland to an
Irish father and a Scottish mother and started his
first band Catchers while at school. Their first
single Cotton Dress came out on Setanta Records and
became single of the week in Melody Maker. Their
debut album Mute was recorded with Mike Hedges in
France. Dale went on to tour with Pulp, Edwyn
Collins, The Divine Comedy, Dr. John and Oasis.
Catchers recorded their second album Stooping to Fit
with Nick DrakeÆs arranger Robert Kirby writing
string and brass section parts for some of the
songs.
All the songs on The Sleeping YearsÆ debut You and
me against the world EP were written, played and
recorded by Dale at home and the EP also featured
dictaphone recordings of his father and of the world
outside his house. Limited to 500 copies, the EP
came in unique hand-made sleeves designed by Pika
Pika, and was numbered and signed by Dale. The card
sleeve was contained in hand-stitched cloth with a
name tag attached. Released last March, You And Me
Against The World was a huge success particularly in
France where it was played on national radio and
received great reviews in all the major magazines.
It is now sold out.
Setting Fire To Sleepy Towns is the second in the
trilogy of limited edition EPs. It was released on
the 25th June.
