RELEASE NOTES
There is a new sound emanating through the burnt out steel mills and dirty
streets of Northeast Ohio. There is a new spirit and new energy filling the
hearts of the young and discontent. In the past this area has been known as "the
mistake by the lake", but in the future people will look back and remember this
area with a new phrase: "This is where the the revolution started...". This is
where THE OHIO SKY began to change the face of rock.
In August 2006 Guitarist Vince DiFranco (ex-Shenoah), Vocalist Rob Montague
(ex-Shenoah, This Mourning Memory), Bassist Michael Drury (ex-This Mourning
Memory) and Drummer Eric Bambic set out to bring passionate driving rock back
onto the scene. Textured melodies, soaring vocals, sonic guitars, pounding
percussion, thunderous bass and undeniable hooks. "We want to bring back honest
rock music. It's very disheartening to hear artists who don't write there own
songs. With the concern being more focused on image and packaging. We want to
tear those ideals down and burn them to the ground. " - vocalist Rob Montague.
With no barriers or guidelines to box them in The Ohio Sky create music
combining their love for anything rock, alternative, and indie.
In December 2006 the boys traveled 3000 miles away from the Buckeye state to Los
Angeles, California to record 2 songs with the Dirty Icon production team made
up of Logan Mader (Machine Head and Soulfly) and Lucas Banker (Junkie XL).
Showcasing the bands talent for great songwriting and strong focus on melody,
"Vanish" and "The Getaway were born. Building steam upon returning to Cleveland,
The Ohio Sky has been playing relentlessly to pleased crowds in and around the
region. With the word spreading and the support of local radio, the band is
heading back in the studio with producer Ben Schigel (Drowning Pool, Chimaira)
to record more songs for a forthcoming self titled EP due out June 2007 on local
indie label Approaching Storm Records. With a sound as huge and awe inspiring as
the sky itself this is a band to watch, so raise your flags and raise your
voice, this is THE OHIO SKY.
