Another super limited collection (only 100 copies) from
those demented creatures over at ONO HQ
- this particular cdr comes from Eastern Bloc's Mark
Turner, a man known throughout Manchester for his insane
knowledge of all things dancefloor.
Lucky then, because this disc focuses squarely on the feet,
and looks to stone-cold-classic early 80s electro in doing so.
Yep this is bass, the final frontier, and those of you with Mk I
Golfs and twin 15" subs will no doubt have already clicked
the buy button! Pieced together flawlessly (tracks rarely run
for more than a minute!) we get prime-audio cuts from
Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock, Afrika Bambaataa, Unknown DJ,
Twilight 22, C-Bank, Kraftwerk, Think Tank, Egyptian Lover,
Cybotron, Hashim, Imperial Brothers, Paul Hardcastle, Newcleus,
Aleem, Captain Rock, Ice T, Man Parrish, Broken Glass, Rodney
O & Joe Cooley, Awesome Foursome, High Fidelity Three, Jazzy
Jay & Herbie Hancock and many many more...
in fact there's so much on here that my head feels a little woozy.
I guess that's the power of the bass, and when there's this much
on offer it can all get a little overwhelming. I'm no expert on electro,
far from it - when all the other kids were endoing with their BMXs
or skating down the local statues I was busy stealing cars and pimping,
so it's nice to finally get a chance to hear the best the 80s had to
offer in one easy-to-manage hour-long mix.
Rarely do mix cds go this deep and rarely are they handled so expertly
- buy before it disappears forever!
