brothers duo 'Tiefschwarz' (deep black) plays
live at the Coma2 club in Tel Aviv, Israel.
This set contains various styles and genres of
music including Jazz-House, Deep house, Garage,
80s and Electro sounds (that's why I chose to
tag it as "Freestyle"...).

about Tiefschwarz
The brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz founded
Tiefschwarz in 1996, with Peter Hoff, boss of
the Benztown Studios in Stuttgart, completing
their production team. These days, Ali and
Basti look back on an extremely successful
DJing career of over ten years. The inspiration
for their project name, Tiefschwarz û a
combination of the brothersÆ family name and
their love of deep house music, ôtiefö meaning
deep, and ôSchwarzö black û, came to Ali and
Basti after one of their gigs.
Ali had opened his On-U club in Stuttgart in
1990, which went on to become one of the
forerunners of the German club scene, followed
three years later by Red Dog, another club
which soon enjoyed a reputation as one of the
most prestigious deep house venues worldwide.
As resident DJs, Ali and Basti have
collaborated with renowned colleagues like Tony
Humphries, Masters at Work, Frankie Feliciano,
Mike Dunn, Mousse T, Matthew Herbert, Lary
Heard, Chris Coco, Matthias Heilbronn, to name
but a few.
Next to their resident work, Ali and Basti have
travelled all over Europe since 1995,
frequently putting in appearances overseas.
TheyÆve been invited to perform in all
important events throughout eminent clubs in
Germany and Switzerland (Zurich, Geneva,
Lausanne, Bern, Basle ...), additional stations
on their itinerary being Miami (W.M.E.), New
York, Washington, Melbourne, Sydney, Prague,
Sarajevo, Amsterdam, Brussels, Antwerp, Rimini,
Stockholm, London, Leeds, Sheffield, Barcelona,
and Ibiza.
After six years of working their arses off as
DJs and promoters, the brothers decided to
produce a number of their own tracks. In 1996,
Ali and Basti co-founded the Continuemusics
label, releasing their first single ô24 Sevenö
with remixes by Boris Dlugosch and Michi Lange
plus four additional tracks.
Tiefschwarz signed a recording deal with edel /
Benztown Records in 1998 û a turning point in
their career. Their first release ôMusicö,
featuring Joy Denalane from hip-hop act
Freundeskreis, was not only a hit in Germany (#
1 in GermanyÆs MTV Dance Charts, # 1 in the
German club charts), but also a major success
in Britain. ôMusicö was licensed by Fran?ois
KervokianÆs renowned Wave Music label (N.Y.C.)
and remixed by Matthias Heilbronn.
In the meantime, Tiefschwarz have completed
close to 30 remix versions of tracks by acts
like Ultra Nat?, Byron Stingily, Jam & Spoon,
Jennifer Paige, Randy Crawford, Masters at
Work, Earth, Wind & Fire, Shakatak, Mousse T,
AWA Band, Whirlpool Prod., Sabrina Johnson, and
Sharon Philips.
Today the name Tiefschwarz is mentioned in the
same breath as a number of legendary German
acts like Boris Dlugosch, Mousse T, Knee Deep,
Ian Pooley, Dixon, Jazzanova, Rainer Trueby,
ata, and Vincenzo, and the illustrious trio
have also become a known quantity as DJs on the
international house scene.
With their debut album ôRAL 9005ö, Tiefschwarz
navigate stylishly and with a great sense of
purpose through the entire musical cosmos that
they have inhabited during the last few years
and succeed in combining different approaches
with their own, unmistakable sound. Dreamily
playful nu-jazz excursions (æMarsÆ, æFusion IÆ,
æFusion IIÆ) alternate with soulful deep house
or garage numbers (æThere IsÆ, æYouÆ, æNeverÆ,
æCity SoundsÆ, æMusicÆ), while detours
incorporating Eighties beats (æSpringtimeÆ),
down-beat electro (æFollow MeÆ) and soundtrack
pop (æ Bye Bye BabyÆ) meet club tracks (æNo
